One of my heroes
Can’t wait to see this…
A little look into the world of Gigi Chen and her Harlem studio…
No Longer Karen Little (detail)
Came across this beautifully eerie painting by Sonny Williams on Artlog.
In the words of the artist ( website )
” I was born in 1972 in Northern Ireland, but grew up in the North East of England. I currently live and work in West Sussex, England. Since graduating with a first class honours degree in fine art in 2001 I have exhibited around the UK, including central London where I have sold work. Although my interests extend into both portraiture and pure abstraction, the central strand of my work is a form of intense personal / subjective realism. I believe in painting, not as a conservative or retrograde art form, but, as an intimate art form which possesses deeper and undisclosed possibilities, despite it’s long and rich history.”
I love the simplicity of these works by Chris Ballantyne. Subtle, quiet, beautiful…
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Robin outside of Reis Studios in LIC where we both have studio spaces. I was first introduced to Robin’s work by picking up a card for her most recent show at PPOW Gallery in the 3rd floor lobby. Her show which kicked off the opening of the Gallery’s new location @ 535 West 22nd Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10011. I Wish I had made it there before the exhibition closed. Will have to make the next one. Keep an eye out for this talented young artist!
