SACRED GALLERY NYC : TOTS WITH TATS & PROJECT 30 – HAND PICKED 10

On July 7th I had the pleasure of visiting Sacred Gallery for their latest show “Tots with Tats” (Maria Secondo Russo) and “Project 30 – Hand Picked 10” (Angie Mason) that was curated by Frankie Velez.

The artists take a very unique approach to tattoo culture, horror, monster culture, and juxtaposing the beautiful with the grotesque. They create an interesting dialogue about how we interpret situations we all face in life as well as how we interpret and react with each other.

Here’s a glimpse of the show and my visit with the artists and curator!

ASTORIA SCUM RIVER BRIDGE

Back in 2004 I lived in Astoria, Queens just two blocks east from this Amtrack overpass and it certainly was one of the grossest wet slicks of pavement in the city. I’m glad something’s been done about it. It’s even better that a pair of artists were the catalyst.
